RESUMO: O desenvolvimento das ações universitárias de ensino, pesquisa e extensão é fundamental para a formação de profissionais capacitados para os desafios existentes na sociedade. Considerando a importância dessas três funções da universidade como prática relevante de aprendizagem, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi analisar qualitativamente o desenvolvimento de propostas de projetos de ensino ligados às atividades de extensão, voltados para o planejamento ambiental rural em uma Unidade de Produção Agrícola, identificando as temáticas e o grau de aplicabilidade dos mesmos. Foram desenvolvidas vinte propostas de projetos voltados para o planejamento de uma Unidade de Produção Agrícola, sendo posteriormente avaliadas pelo agricultor na disciplina de "Planejamento Ambiental Rural", do curso de Bacharelado em Gestão e Análise Ambiental da Universidade Federal de São Carlos. Os projetos seguiram métodos de pesquisa qualitativa, utilizando abordagem sistêmica e participativa. Ao final do processo, foi aplicada ao agricultor uma matriz de avaliação dos projetos. O desenvolvimento dos projetos foi de suma importância para a aprendizagem dos acadêmicos sobre os diversos temas abordados, assim como resultou em perspectivas reais de melhoria na Unidade de Produção Agrícola. A construção do conhecimento foi participativa e integrada entre os acadêmicos e o agricultor.

ABSTRACT: Developing research, teaching and extension in university programs is fundamental to capacitate professionals for the challenging endeavors. Considering the importance of these three university functions as relevant learning practices, the objective of this study was to analyze qualitatively the development of teaching project proposals associated with extension activities, directed to the rural environmental planning in an Agricultural Production Unit, in order to identify the issues and their degree of applicability. Twenty project proposals were developed in the "Rural Environmental Planning" course to plan an Agricultural Production Unit, which were subsequently evaluated by the farmer. This discipline is part of the Bachelor's degree course in Environmental Management and Analysis of the Universidade Federal de São Carlos. The projects followed qualitative research methods using the systemic and participatory approach. At the end of the process the farmer answered an evaluation matrix of the projects. Development of the projects was particularly important for the students and for their knowledge on the various topics covered, which also resulted in factual improvement perspectives in the Agricultural Production Unit. Construction of knowledge was participatory and integrated between the students and farmer.

ABSTRACT An environmental zoning proposal due to the demand to develop strategies to ensure biodiversity scenarios for the remaining mixed ombrophilous forests was carried out for the Irati National Forest, a legally protected area for sustainable use located in southern Brazil. To identify land use and cover, Ikonos PSM images dated from December 2004, based on the interpretation of visual character and vectorization of orbital data were used. Qualitative and quantitative classifications identified six types of land and cover use: native forest, forestry, capoeira grass, wetland, araucaria plantation, and anthropic. The native forest relative to the mixed ombrophilous forest was the prevailing type of land cover. The environmental zoning proposal defined seven zones of use, some that involved several potentially harmful activities to the biodiversity of the Irati National Forest. The environmental zone proposal, based on ecosystem conservation, outlined specific factors that enhanced ecosystem and community viability, supporting the design and evaluation of the management plan of the Irati National Forest.

O Código Florestal Brasileiro de 1965 conceitua e regulamenta as Áreas de Preservação Permanente (APP) e Reserva Legal (RL). Para regulamentar a adequação das propriedades agrícolas ao código florestal, o estado do Paraná instituiu o SISLEG - Sistema de Manutenção, Recuperação e Proteção da Reserva Legal e Áreas de Preservação Permanente. Neste estudo foram quantificadas, com auxílio do sistema de posicionamento global (GPS) e programas de Sistemas de Informações Geográficas (SIG), as APPs e RLs de 147 propriedades em oito municípios das regiões centro-oriental e sudeste do Paraná, visando analisá-las frente ao Código Florestal vigente. Observou-se expressiva cobertura florestal formada por fragmentos de Floresta Ombrófila Mista; as superfícies disponíveis para definição de RL apresentam valores superiores àqueles requeridos pela legislação. Há necessidade de recomposição das APPs em 67% das propriedades; 26% das propriedades estão de acordo com as exigências do Código Florestal. A quantificação da cobertura florestal necessária e remanescente, tal como a pequena demanda de área para readequação de APP (5% da área total) permitem inferir que esses quesitos não são entraves para a regularização ambiental da agricultura familiar, nas propriedades analisadas.

The Brazilian Forest Code of 1965 has defined and regulated the concepts of Permanent Preservation Areas (APP) and the Legal Reserve (RL). To regulate rural properties' compliance to the forest code, the State of Paraná introduced the SISLEG- Maintenance, Rehabilitation and Protection of Legal Reserve and Permanent Preservation Areas System. This study quantified, with the help of global positioning system (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the APPs and RLs of 147 properties in eight cities in East-central and Southeastern Paraná, aiming to analyze the environmental compliance of family-based rural properties to the Forest Code. A significant amount of forest cover was mapped, mainly as fragments of Araucaria Forest. The amount of forest cover is higher than the minimum required by law. Concerning the APPs about 67% of farms required some restoration while 26% of them are in accordance with the Code. The quantification of existing forest cover and that required by law, as well as the relatively small area necessary for the adjustment of the APPs (5% of total area) allows inferring that these questions are not barriers for the environmental regulation of the family-based surveyed farms.
